This year the N.S.M.S. foray was held at Wallace, right by the warm waters of the Northumberland Strait in beautiful
Cumberland County. The foray followed the usual format and as always was very successful with many interesting and
very funny people attending.
Our visiting experts were Dr David Malloch who has a Master's degree from San Francisco State University,
and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. He retired in 2003 and moved to Little Lepreau, New Brunswick. He is
a Research Associate with the New Brunswick Museum assuming the post in 2003 to the present time. David's
very interesting talk was on the genus Cortinarius.
Our second visiting expert was Dr Leonard Hutchison. Leonard is an associate professor in the faculty of Natural Resource
management at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He teaches courses in Fungal Biology, Forest Pathology, Plant
Biology and Urban Forestry. His research is focussed on the biology of forest fungi, including mushrooms that form ectomycorrhizas
and those that decompose wood and litter.Dr Hutchison spoke on, Life Underground: The Story of Truffles and Truffle-like
Fungi.

There's an very old saying that "A picture paints a thousand words" So this year I decided to forego the usual
format of writing up what happened at the foray and let the photographs tell the story. I am grateful to Sandi McKessock
and Barb Cronk for supplying the photographs.
